The Leeton United Soccer Club was formed in the early 1960’s by first generation Italian migrants, however football has been played in the Leeton area since 1923.
Throughout its history, Leeton United has competed in 3 different associations – the Griffith & District Football Association (GDFA), Football Wagga Wagga (FWW) and the North Eastern Soccer League (NESL) based in Shepparton, Victoria.
Leeton United has won 5 Senior Men’s Premierships in 1973, 1983, 1993, 2020 & 2022. The first 3 premierships were won in the GDFA competition, and the 2 most recent titles were won in the Football Wagga Wagga competition.
Leeton United is yet to win a Senior Women’s Premiership.
In the early 2000’s the Leeton United Soccer Club changed its name to the Leeton United Football Club Inc. (LUFC) in line with the changing dynamic of soccer/football in Australia.

All of Leeton United’s senior and junior male and female teams train at Leeton’s No. 2 Oval. This is also the home ground of their junior teams. The club’s senior teams home ground is the Mia Club Oval; however, they also play home matches at Leeton’s No. 1 & No. 2 Oval occasionally.

In recent years, LUFC has averaged around 250-300 registered junior and senior playing members. The LUFC board currently consists of 15 registered members who manage the day-to-day running of the entire club.

LUFC has 7 competitive representative teams. 3 Junior Boys teams compete in the GDFA, and 3 Senior Men’s teams and 1 Senior Women’s team compete in FWW.

The club also runs several successful programs throughout the year.
MiniRoos is an introductory, grassroots program for 4-11 year olds aimed at teaching kids the football basics as well as fun, teamwork, friendship, and sportsmanship.
Leeton United’s Academy (Skills Acquisition Program – SAP) is for 9-12 year olds who display football talent and a love for the game and aims to provide a transition from grassroots football to representative football.
In the off-season, LUFC also runs a junior and senior futsal competition at the Leeton Indoor Stadium which aims to provide a fun social atmosphere, maintain players fitness, and sharpen their skills in readiness for the upcoming season.
